Fill Ten-Frames and Find the Missing Addends

This making ten worksheet presents 3 partly filled ten-frames with 10 as the whole. Draw enough extra dots to fill each frame and complete its addition equation. The starting parts are 7, 3, and 8. The final activity asks the child to draw two groups that make ten and explain the pair.

In the first activity, 7 is given and 3 more are needed: 7 + 3 = 10. Count the filled spaces, then count the empty spaces to find the missing amount. Add one dot in each empty cell and check that the frame now has ten dots.

Ask the child to say both parts and the whole together, keeping the total ten in view throughout the activity. The final drawing can use two clearly separated groups of dots or simple marks. Count each group, then count all the marks to check that the total is ten. An adult can model one pair first, then invite a different pair and ask what changed and what stayed the same.
