Maps and Geography Preschool Worksheet

This land and water map worksheet shows a pretend island, a school, and a bridge to another area of land. Color land green and water blue, leaving the bridge white. Then look at the two vehicle pictures and circle land or water for each. Read the map labels together and identify the coast before coloring a large area.

The school bus travels on land, and the boat travels on water. Their left-to-right order on this page is boat, then bus. The bridge connects two land areas across the water. Point to each vehicle and say where it travels before circling the word. The labels and outline boundaries help identify which parts receive each color.

An island is land surrounded by water. The bridge provides a land connection on this pretend map; it does not mean every island must have a bridge. Keep the white bridge distinct from the surrounding water when coloring. A child can describe the route aloud while an adult helps read the labels or follow the outline with a finger.

Explore the maps and geography collection for related practice. The Preschool Social Studies set offers other illustrated activities. Work through a few examples with time to explain a choice. After checking the page, try one spoken example using a familiar place, activity, or object while keeping the same skill in focus.
