Identify classroom job materials. The page asks children to circle the materials connected to the job both children want.

Explain a fair choice. The prompt helps children suggest taking turns, alternating days, or choosing another fair plan.

Connect jobs to group responsibility. The cleanup problem shows that one disagreement can affect other work that still needs doing.

When Helpers Disagree About Classroom Jobs

Classroom jobs sound simple until two kids want the same helper role and another task is still waiting. If you have ever heard, “That’s my job!” during cleanup, this page gives children a calm, concrete way to practice fairness before the moment gets loud.

On this one-page grade 1 social studies worksheet, children look at an illustrated classroom cleanup scene with a friendly elephant. They circle the materials for the book job, then respond to a prompt about how two children can decide fairly while still making sure the crayons get put away. The response stems, “My idea” and “My reason,” support early writing, speaking, and cause-and-effect thinking.

Use the page as a short discussion starter before assigning real classroom or home jobs. Read the story aloud, let your child point to the job materials, and ask, “What would be fair?” After they draw or write an idea, invite them to explain their reason and listen to another possible solution.

This worksheet is part of the Grade 1 Social Studies Adventures set in the Whizki Plus tier. The set focuses on everyday social studies through illustrated situations, conversation, drawing, and simple written responses, so children can connect community ideas to real routines they recognize.

Keep the session short and friendly. Five to ten minutes is enough: circle the book materials, choose one fair plan, say one reason out loud, and end by naming one classroom job your child has helped with before.
