Different Food Choices at Home: Family Care

Mealtime can get tricky when one child wants to choose for everyone, or when a group activity turns into “my way only.” This printable gives that everyday friction a calm, concrete place to land, so children can practice noticing what different people like before making a caring choice.

On the page, a bunny stands by a kitchen table and points toward the scene. Children draw two foods on the plate, one for each person, then explain how they learned what each person likes. The prompts build social studies skills, oral language, perspective taking, drawing confidence, and early decision making.

Use it with crayons at the table, during a small-group lesson, or before a snack conversation. Read the short story aloud, point to the plate, and ask, “How could we make both people feel included?” If your child gets stuck, offer two choices and ask which food belongs to which person.

This page is part of Kindergarten Social Studies Adventures, a Whizki Plus set about everyday community, family, and self-awareness topics. It fits the set’s hands-on style by pairing a simple illustrated scene with drawing, talk, and a real-life question children can recognize from home.

Keep the session short and friendly. Let your child draw first, then ask for one sentence using “My idea” or “My reason.” If attention fades, stop after the drawing and save the listening conversation for later.
