Keep the Park Path Clear for Everyone to Walk

Getting young children to notice shared-space rules can be tricky, especially when they are focused on the slide, the ball, or getting somewhere fast. This printable gives that everyday park problem a calm, concrete shape: what happens when something blocks the path?

On the page, a beaver wants to walk from a bench toward the slide, but a ball is sitting in the way. Children circle the ball, then draw an arrow showing how to move it onto the grass beside the slide. The work blends observation, fine-motor control, direction words, and early social studies thinking about rules and responsibilities.

Use it after recess, before a park visit, or during a classroom community lesson. Read the short story aloud, point to the bench and slide, and ask, “What is stopping the walker?” After your child draws the arrow, invite a quick explanation in their own words.

This worksheet is part of Kindergarten Social Studies Adventures, a Whizki Plus set that explores everyday places, helpful choices, and community habits through illustrated activities. It fits well when children are learning that rules are not just for saying “no.” They help people share space, stay safe, and take care of one another.

Keep the session short and hands-on. In 5 to 10 minutes, your child can circle, draw, and talk through the choice. If attention fades, finish with one sentence: “Clear paths help everyone move.”
