Help Someone Join In: Tradition Interview Drawing

When a child is asked about a family tradition, the answer can stall fast. Preschool and kindergarten kids often know the activity in their bodies, yet they need help naming the steps, asking a caring adult, and explaining it kindly to someone new.

On this printable page, the child interviews someone who cares for them about a family activity. Then they draw the first thing to do on the left album page and what comes next on the right album page. A friendly beaver scene supports drawing, sequencing, speaking, listening, and early social studies vocabulary.

Use it at the kitchen table, during morning meeting, or as a homeschool conversation starter. Read the short story prompt aloud, help your child choose one real activity, and let them ask for details. After drawing, invite them to explain both steps using simple language.

This page belongs to the Whizki Plus set, Kindergarten Social Studies Adventures. The set explores everyday social studies through illustrated kindergarten activities, conversation, and drawing. This worksheet focuses on cultures and traditions by helping children notice that familiar routines can be taught to a newcomer.

Keep the session short and calm. If your child is unsure what to draw, ask: What would someone need to do first? Celebrate one clear detail, then add the second step only if your child still has focus.
