If the Delivery Is Late: Preschool Market Helpers

When a preschooler asks why delivery people matter, it can be hard to turn that big community question into something concrete before attention drifts. This page gives you a simple, screen-free way to talk about stores, helpers, and waiting without needing a long lesson.

On the worksheet, children look at a market scene with an elephant delivery helper who cannot reach the shop today. They choose from three pictures and circle the food the shop is waiting for, then respond to a prompt about what might happen if the delivery is late. The page practices picture discrimination, early decision-making, cause and effect, and oral language.

Use it at the table, in a small group, or during a community helpers unit. First, name each picture choice together. Next, ask your child to circle the food. Then use the response stems, My idea and My reason, to help them explain their thinking in a complete sentence.
