A Splashy Walk Story Coloring Worksheet

A Splashy Walk is a one-page story coloring worksheet for preschool children. The page practices pre-writing hand control through coloring, choosing one small thing to color red, using other colors for the rest, and asking someone to find the red detail in the picture.

At age 4, children are still building the small hand movements needed for later writing. Some preschoolers press too hard, color too fast, or stall when a page feels too open, so a small color direction gives the child a clear place to begin.

A parent or teacher can sit beside the child and say, “Pick one small thing to make red.” After the child colors the red part and finishes the rest of the picture, the child can show the page to someone and ask that person to find the red thing.

The worksheet feels playful because the color choice becomes part of a tiny hide-and-find moment. A Splashy Walk gives a preschool child a reason to look closely, control crayon strokes, follow a simple direction, and share the finished picture with another person.
