Balloon Color Code Worksheet

The Balloon Color Code worksheet is a one-page kindergarten math activity with balloons and a simple color key. Children match each printed number to the correct color, then use the prompt, “Which two balloons have the same number?” to practice number recognition and same-number spotting.

At age five, kids are still sorting out number shapes, color words, and directions at the same time. Kids often stall on number shapes, especially when a 6, 9, 2, or 5 looks almost right, so a color by code page gives children a friendly reason to look closely and check again.

Sit beside your child with crayons ready and read the instruction aloud: “Match each number to the color key.” Point to one balloon, ask your child to name the number, find the matching number in the key, and choose the color. After a few balloons, pause and ask, “Which two balloons have the same number?”

This worksheet is useful because the coloring has a real math job. The balloon picture keeps the page playful, while the color key asks children to slow down, compare numerals, and make a choice before coloring. The page works well for a short screen-free math moment at home, in a kindergarten center, or during quiet practice.
