Centimeter Measurement Addition Worksheet

The first grade math worksheet gives children four addition problems with measurements in centimeters. Children read the pictured quantity, add the centimeter amounts, and practice keeping the cm unit attached to the answer.

At age seven, many children can count on but still lose track of what the number means. Kids also stall when a ruler picture, a scale picture, or a measuring container asks for both number sense and unit language at the same time.

Sit beside your child with a pencil and point to one problem at a time. Ask your child to say the two centimeter amounts aloud, write the addition sentence, circle the unit label, and then explain which pictured amount is longer or larger.

The pictures on the worksheet match the saved quantities, so the models support the math instead of decorating the page. The rulers, scales, and measuring containers are visual models, not life-size measuring tools, which keeps the focus on reading units and adding measurements.
