Design a Travel Poster Drawing Worksheet

Design a Travel Poster is a one-page draw-and-color worksheet for first grade. Children draw a snowy place on the poster, then add a shelter and a way to travel through the snow. The page practices pre-writing pencil control through lines, shapes, curves, and careful coloring.

At age 6, many children can tell a whole story out loud but still get stuck when the pencil has to plan the first shape. A focused drawing prompt helps children move from idea to mark-making, which supports the hand control children need for writing letters and words.

A parent or teacher can sit beside the child and read the instruction aloud: draw a snowy place on the poster, then color. Ask one simple question before the pencil starts, such as, “What shelter will keep a traveler warm?” After the shelter is drawn, ask what could move through snow, such as skis, a sled, snowshoes, or a snowmobile.

The worksheet is useful because the prompt is specific without closing down the child’s choices. A generic blank page can feel too open, while a travel poster gives a clear purpose for every mark. The snowy setting also invites real details, such as a cabin, tent, trail, hill, sled, or tracks in the snow.
