Design a Travel Poster Drawing Worksheet

Design a Travel Poster is a one-page drawing and coloring worksheet for 1st grade reading and writing time. The page practices pre-writing, pencil control for tracing readiness, and early labeling as children draw a destination, add the destination name, show two visitor activities, and color the scene.

At age six, many children can tell a whole story out loud, then stall when letters, spacing, or picture details need to land on paper. A travel poster gives a child a friendly reason to slow the pencil, plan marks, and connect spoken ideas to simple written words.

Sit together and ask the child to pick a real or pretend place for the big poster. After the child draws the destination, help the child say the place name slowly, write the name on the poster, add two things visitors could do there, and finish with color.

The worksheet is useful because the writing job stays small while the thinking job stays rich. Unlike a plain coloring page, the travel poster asks for a named place, two activity ideas, and a complete scene, so drawing supports early writing without making the page feel crowded.
