At age seven, many children know plenty of numbers but still pause when a blank falls in the middle of a sequence. Missing number practice helps a child see what comes before and after, instead of guessing from memory or rushing to the next problem.
A parent or teacher can sit beside the child, point to each trail, and say the numbers aloud together before any pencil marks go down. For the 11 to 15 trail, invite the child to whisper 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, then write the missing 12 and 14.
