Compare past and present objects. The child draws one example from a grown-up's childhood and one current example under Then and Now.

Ask an interview question. The child gathers information from a grown-up before completing the drawing and explanation prompts.

Explain a difference with evidence. The child uses the grown-up's answer to support a simple comparison instead of guessing.

Compare Then and Now Family Music Memories

Family-history conversations can sound sweet in theory, but in real life a child may shrug, a grown-up may get too detailed, and everyone may lose the thread. This printable gives the talk a small job: compare how someone listened to music then with how music is listened to now.

On the page, children see a museum scene with a friendly bunny and two labeled frames: Then and Now. They interview a grown-up, draw one music-listening object from the grown-up's childhood, draw a current example, then explain a difference using the prompts, response stems, and the phrase I noticed.

Use it as a quick kitchen-table interview or a small-group classroom activity. Read the story prompt aloud, help the child ask one clear question, and keep the grown-up's answer short. After drawing, invite the child to point to both pictures and say, My idea, then My reason.

This worksheet belongs to the Grade 1 Social Studies Adventures set in the Whizki Plus tier. The set explores everyday Social Studies through illustrated Grade 1 activities, conversation, and drawing, so this page fits naturally with lessons about past, present, family stories, and listening to others.

For a short session, limit the interview to one minute and the drawing to two simple sketches. If your child gets stuck, ask, What did the grown-up use, and what do people use now? Stop after one spoken difference, because the goal is comparison, not a polished art project.
