Find the Missing Numbers Number Trails Worksheet

The Find the Missing Numbers worksheet gives kindergarten children four short number trails with blanks to fill in. Children practice counting forward, naming the number before and after, and connecting the trails to simple addition and subtraction facts within early numbers.

At age five, number order can still feel slippery, especially when kids start in the middle instead of at one. A child may say the counting words easily, then stall on a blank between 4 and 6 or between 0 and 2, so short trails give just enough practice without turning math time into a long sit.

Sit beside the child and point to the first trail while saying, “4, blank, 6, blank, 8.” Ask the child to whisper-count from 4, write 5 and 7, then reread the whole trail; use the same routine for the trails that start at 2, 1, and 0, and let the child check the simple addition or subtraction clue nearby.

The worksheet is useful because the four trails do not all start at one, and the blanks appear in different spots. The page keeps the work focused on number sense, with small sequences, early numbers from 0 to 8, and quick fact clues that help children see how counting and simple equations fit together.
