Find the Missing Numbers Worksheet

The Find the Missing Numbers worksheet gives first graders four short number trails to complete. Children fill blanks in counting sequences from 3 to 7, 4 to 8, 8 to 12, and 11 to 15, then connect the same number sense to simple addition and subtraction facts.

Seven-year-olds often know counting words, but missing numbers can still cause a pause when the blank sits in the middle of a row. Practice with short trails helps children see number order, one more, and one less without turning the page into a long drill.

A parent or teacher can sit beside the child and point to each trail from left to right. Ask the child to whisper-count from the first number, write the missing numbers in the blank spaces, and then read the whole trail aloud before moving to the nearby number fact.

The worksheet stays small on purpose. Four trails with two blanks each give enough practice for real thinking, while the included addition and subtraction facts help children use missing-number thinking in more than one format.
