Find the Missing Numbers Worksheet

The Find the Missing Numbers Worksheet is a first grade math page for counting forward and number sense. Children complete four short number sequences, including 12 to 16, 6 to 10, 9 to 13, and 8 to 12, then work with simple addition and subtraction facts shown beside the rows.

At age seven, many children can count in order during a song, but kids stall when one or two numbers disappear from the middle of a row. Missing-number practice helps a child look at the number before a blank and the number after a blank, and that same thinking supports later addition, subtraction, and place value.

Sit with your child and start with the first row: 12, blank, 14, blank, 16. Ask, “What number comes after 12?” and “What number comes before 16?” Then have your child write the missing numbers, read the whole row aloud, and try the nearby math fact with the same slow check.

The worksheet keeps the work small and clear, which helps five-number rows feel doable instead of crowded. Each line pairs a short counting sequence with a simple number fact, so the page gives practice with before and after clues and basic number relationships in one calm, screen-free activity.
