Learning Outcomes

Add weight measurements in pounds. The worksheet asks the child to combine two labeled pound amounts and write each total.

Read unit labels for weight. The repeated lb label helps the child link a number to a measurement unit, not just a plain count.

Write sums with a measurement context. Each row gives practice recording an addition answer as a weight amount.

Add Pound Weights: Measurement Arithmetic Practice

When a child can count objects but freezes at a unit label, measurement math can suddenly feel harder than regular addition. Parents and teachers often see this friction when the numbers are familiar, but the little “lb” after each number makes the problem look new.

On this printable page, children solve four addition rows with imperial weight. Each problem shows two pound amounts labeled lb, and the child adds the numbers, keeps the unit in mind, and writes the total as a weight. A mission-style box gives one more pound addition prompt for extra practice.

Try the first row together, then let your child finish the remaining rows with a crayon or pencil. Point to the lb label and say “pounds” out loud before adding. If your child needs a hands-on link, place blocks, toy groceries, or small boxes nearby and talk about which items might be measured by weight.

This Whizki Pro worksheet belongs to the Measurement Workshop set, which explores length, weight, and liquid volume with illustrated tools and practical math. This page focuses on adding pound weights, so it gives children a clear bridge from simple sums to real measurement language.

Keep the session short and calm. Spend about five to ten minutes on the page, then ask one quick wrap-up question, such as “What unit did we use today?” That tiny review helps the math stick without turning practice into a long lesson.
