Learning Outcomes
Compare one-digit numbers using greater than, less than, and equal signs. The worksheet gives repeated number pairs so children practice deciding which value is larger, smaller, or the same.
Recognize comparison symbols in a math context. Children connect each sign to the relationship between two numbers instead of memorizing the marks in isolation.
Check number relationships from left to right. Each problem supports careful reading of the first number, the sign space, and the second number before answering.

Monster Math: Compare One-Digit Numbers
When kids are just starting math, the symbols can feel like the hard part. A child may be able to count two groups, then freeze when asked to choose greater than, less than, or equal. This page gives that tricky step a playful monster setting and keeps the work focused.
On this printable worksheet, children look at pairs of one-digit numbers and write or choose the correct comparison sign between them. Each problem asks them to decide whether the first number is greater than, less than, or equal to the second number. The repeated format builds number sense, symbol recognition, and careful left-to-right checking.
Use the page with a pencil and a small counting tool, such as buttons, cereal pieces, or linking cubes. For a child who needs support, have them build each number in two small groups, count both groups, then point to the bigger group before choosing the sign. Confident students can say each number sentence aloud after they complete it.
This worksheet is part of the Whizki Learning Addition and Subtraction Pack, a Whizki Pro set built for first addition and subtraction with plenty to count. It fits well with kindergarten math worksheets because it strengthens comparison skills that children use before and during early operations.
Keep the session short and calm. Try one row together, let your child finish a few independently, then review the signs by tracing them in the air with a finger. Stop while the work still feels manageable.
