The Next Number Counting Worksheet is a preschool math page for practicing what number comes next. Children look at a given whole number, count forward, and choose the next whole number, with every answer no higher than 5.
At age 4, counting can sound smooth out loud while written number choices still feel tricky. Many children stall when number words, number symbols, and “what comes next” have to work together on the same page.
A parent or teacher can sit beside the child, point to the starting number, and say the count together in a soft voice. After the child chooses the next number, the adult can ask, “How did the counting help?” and let the child mark the answer.
