Addition and Subtraction Worksheet: Subtract With Pictures
This worksheet asks a kindergarten child to practice subtraction by counting pictures, subtracting a smaller group from a larger group.
At age 6, number sense grows quickly, and subtraction can feel tricky when a child jumps straight to an answer instead of counting what is actually shown. A common hiccup is rushing, then realizing the total does not match the pictures.
Use this page one problem at a time. Point to the larger picture group, count out loud together, and then gently “take away” the smaller group by moving a finger or using a paper scrap over those pictures. Count the remaining pictures and write the result the worksheet asks for.
Because this worksheet uses real pictures instead of math symbols, it turns subtraction into “take away and see what is left,” which builds confidence for later addition and subtraction. Whizki Learning keeps the focus on counting the objects, not memorizing steps.
