Logic Maze Problem-Solving Worksheet

The logic maze worksheet gives first graders a screen-free maze to solve with a pencil and a little talk-aloud thinking. Children practice route planning, careful scanning, and choosing a path after looking ahead instead of guessing at every turn.

Seven-year-olds can see a maze as fun, but seven-year-olds can also get stuck fast when a path bends back or ends suddenly. Maze practice matters because problem solving at this age grows through small choices, quick checks, and the calm habit of trying a new path.

A parent or teacher can sit beside the child and ask the child to point to the start, trace one possible route with a finger, then use a pencil only after the child has a plan. If the child reaches a dead end, the adult can say, "Find the last place where another path was open," and let the child backtrack.

The page is useful because the maze keeps attention on one clear job, getting from start to finish, while still asking for real thinking. The worksheet works well as a quick morning warm-up, a calm after-school activity, or a partner page where children explain choices out loud.
