Learning Outcomes
Preschoolers → Vocabulary Numbering → Match words to numbered pictures and write correct numerals with more confidence.
Preschoolers → Word reading with picture cues → Strengthen vocabulary recall while practicing short, focused writing in number boxes.
Preschoolers → Number sense in context → Improve attention by pairing each word with the correct picture number repeatedly.

Vocabulary Numbering Match-Up Worksheet
This Vocabulary Numbering worksheet has 10 vocabulary words on the left and 10 numbered pictures on the right. A child reads each word and writes the matching picture number in the empty box.
At age 5, children remember more when word reading is tied to a clear visual match. When word work starts to feel like slow letter practice, kids stall on letter shapes and lose interest.
Use the worksheet for a short round at the start. Parent points to the first word, child reads it, then both search for the matching picture. Parent says, “Find the picture that matches the word, then write that picture number in the box.” After 3 words, add a quick 30-second wiggle break and continue.
The worksheet is different from a generic “read and repeat” sheet because every answer is a number. The picture-number link helps children check their thinking right away, while the writing boxes give practice that feels purposeful.
