Category Matching Picture Puzzle Worksheet
The Category Matching Picture Puzzle Worksheet has four picture-based logic puzzles for preschool and kindergarten learners. Each puzzle asks a child to match one large picture with one of four smaller pictures from the same group or with a shared use, building category matching without any reading.
At age 5, children are sorting the world all day long, like foods, animals, tools, clothes, and toys. Five-year-olds can still get stuck when a familiar idea moves onto paper, especially when several pictures look possible at first glance.
Use the worksheet side by side with a child. Point to the large picture, name the picture together, then ask, “Which small picture belongs with that one, and why?” After the child chooses, invite a quick explanation before drawing a line or circling the answer.
