Count and Draw Circles Worksheet

Counting gets wobbly when a child has to stop, remember the number, and draw it. On this page, your first grader counts the first group of circles, then draws two new groups with the requested number of circles. Each drawing stays within 10 circles, so the work feels clear and manageable.

This is a good fit when they can count to 10 aloud and are beginning to match one spoken number to one object. If they rush, ask them to touch each circle as they count. That simple tap helps connect one-to-one counting with the written task.

The drawing part makes number sense visible. A child has to decide when a group has enough circles, stop drawing, and check the total. If you want a follow-up with pictures instead of drawing, try the Animal Count and Choose Worksheet, which keeps the focus on counting a set and choosing the matching amount.

Sit nearby with a pencil and keep the pace relaxed. You can say, “Count first, draw next, then count your circles again.” If groups up to 10 feel comfortable, the Tens and Ones Number Cards Worksheet is a useful next step because it moves from small counted groups toward seeing ten as a special benchmark.
