Feet Addition Measurement Worksheet

Six-year-olds often know how to add small numbers, then forget the tiny unit label at the end. This page keeps the job simple: solve four addition problems labeled in ft. and use the matching ruler, scale, or measuring container picture as a model. The pictures support the quantities shown, but they are not life-size measuring tools.

A child is ready for this activity when they can add two whole numbers with help and can understand that ft. stands for feet. If that abbreviation is new, say “feet” out loud each time it appears. Keeping the word attached to the number helps the measurement feel like one complete idea, not just a plain addition fact.

The practice works best when you slow the first problem down together. Ask your child to read the measurement, add the numbers, and write the total with the unit. For more practice adding measurements with a different unit, try the pound addition measurement worksheet. When you want a next step that focuses on deciding which amount is bigger or smaller, the milliliter comparison worksheet gives a clear shift from adding to comparing units.

Sit nearby and let your child talk through one problem at a time. If the page feels busy, cover the other problems with a blank sheet of paper and slide it down as you go. After the four answers are finished, reread each total as a feet measurement, then point out a real ruler or tape measure so they can see that the printed pictures are models, not measuring tools.
