Learning Outcomes

First grader → Compare measurements labeled ft → Chooses the larger or smaller quantity by reading each number and unit.

Measurement pictures → Connect model to quantity → Uses the illustration as a cue while remembering it is not life-size measuring tool.

Comparison problems → Record an answer → Writes a response after checking both values instead of guessing from picture size.

Feet Comparison Measurement Worksheet

Kids often do fine with counting, then slow down when a unit label gets added. This printable page keeps the work small and focused: four comparison problems with measurements in ft. The pictures match the saved quantities, so a child can look, read the numbers, and decide how the measurements compare.

This is a good fit when a first grader can read basic numbers and is starting to notice that measurement answers need units. The illustrated measurement models are there to support the problem, but they are not life-size measuring tools. Say that out loud before starting, so the child compares the values shown, not the printed picture size.

Work one problem at a time. Have your child point to each quantity, read the number with “feet,” and then choose the answer that matches the comparison. If guessing starts, cover the pictures for a moment and ask, “Which number is more?” or “Which number is less?” That small pause turns the page into real parent-child talk instead of a race to finish.

After the four problems, try one quick off-page check with a tape measure or a few footsteps across the room. When your child is ready to compare a different unit, pint comparison practice keeps the same compare-and-decide routine with capacity, and milliliter comparison practice adds a smaller metric unit for another day.
