Feet Measurement Comparison Worksheet

Kids can stall when measurement switches from counting objects to comparing labeled amounts. This page keeps it short: four feet measurement comparison problems using ft. labels and illustrated measurement models. The pictures match the saved quantities, but they are not life-size tools, so the job is to read the labels and compare the amounts, not measure the drawings.

This is a good fit when a first grader can read written numbers and is beginning to use greater than, less than, and equal ideas. If the ft. abbreviation is new, say it together as “feet” before starting. A quick warm-up helps: point to one label, read it aloud, then ask, “How many feet does this show?”

Sit nearby and take the problems one at a time. Have the child read both quantities, point to the ft. label, and decide which amount is more, less, or the same. If they rush because the pictures look different, bring them back to the numbers. The models are there to support the math conversation, while the labeled quantities carry the comparison.

After the four problems, ask your child to explain one answer in a full sentence, such as “This amount is greater because it shows more feet.” When comparison feels comfortable, you can keep the measurement talk going with the Pint Addition Measurement Worksheet for liquid measure practice, or try the Kilogram Addition Measurement Worksheet to talk about weight units in a new context.
