Kilogram Comparison Worksheet

Kids can stall when measurement switches from real objects to numbers on paper. This page keeps the work small and clear with four kilogram comparison problems. Your child reads the kg amounts, looks at the matching picture models, and decides how the quantities compare.

This is a good fit for a first grader who can read simple numbers and is beginning to talk about heavier, lighter, more, less, and equal. The pictures are helpful models, but they are not life-size measuring tools. They are there to connect the written amounts to measurement thinking, not to be measured with a ruler or scale at home.

The practice works best when you ask your child to say each comparison out loud before writing or marking an answer. Try, “Which amount is greater?” or “How do you know these are the same?” If the kg unit is new, point to it and say, “That tells us we are comparing weight in kilograms.” For more work with comparing measured amounts in another unit, try this centimeter measurement comparison worksheet next, since it keeps the focus on comparing while changing the unit.

Sit nearby for the first problem, then let your child try the next one with a finger under each number. If an answer is off, have them circle the two quantities and read them again slowly. After this page, a related step is this milliliter subtraction measurement worksheet, which moves from comparing measurements to solving with liquid volume amounts.
