Kilogram Subtraction Measurement Worksheet

This printable measurement worksheet gives first graders four subtraction problems using kilogram amounts. Children practice subtracting kg, reading each measurement label, and comparing how much weight is left after part of an amount is taken away.

At age six, many children can count back or subtract on fingers, but kids can stall when a number has a unit attached. Kilograms add a real-world meaning to subtraction, so the child begins to see math as a way to compare weights, not just finish number facts.

A parent or teacher can sit beside the child and read the first problem aloud, then point to the matching scale or measuring picture. Ask the child to say the starting kilograms, cross out or cover the amount being taken away, and write the remaining kilograms on the answer line.

The illustrated rulers, scales, or measuring containers match the saved quantities and give children a visual anchor for each subtraction problem. The pictures are models, not life-size measuring tools, so the worksheet keeps attention on unit labels, comparison language, and careful subtraction.
