Kilograms Addition Worksheet

Kids often know how to add small numbers, then stall when a unit like kg appears beside them. This page keeps the task clear with four kilogram addition problems and matching measurement pictures. The rulers, scales, or measuring containers are picture models, so they support the math without acting like real measuring tools.

This is a good fit when a child can add the numbers in each problem and is ready to keep track of what the numbers mean. Sit nearby for the first problem and ask, “What unit do we see?” before any adding begins. That small pause helps the kg label stay part of the answer instead of being an afterthought.

The practice works through reading each saved quantity, adding the kilogram amounts, and writing the total with the unit. If the pictures pull attention away from the equation, cover the other problems with a blank sheet of paper and do one at a time. For a related comparison step with liquid measures, try the milliliters comparison worksheet, which keeps the focus on reading and comparing measurement amounts.

After the four problems are done, have your child point to each answer and say it aloud as a measurement, such as “kilograms,” not just as a number. If that feels comfortable, move next to the units and measurement comparison worksheet so the same unit awareness carries into comparing measurements. Keep the session short, check one answer together, and save the page to revisit another day if needed.
