Maps and Geography Worksheet

Map words can feel fuzzy for first graders, especially when a child wants to guess and move on. This printable maps and geography worksheet gives you a simple off-screen way to slow down together, read the directions, and use the information on the page to answer.

It is a good fit for many children ages 7 and up who can handle short social studies directions with support. If reading the prompts is still tiring, you can read each direction aloud while your child points, marks, or writes the answer. That keeps the focus on map thinking instead of getting stuck on every word.

The practice is hands-on and direct. Ask your child to scan the map or geography information first, then look back at the prompt before answering. When an answer feels uncertain, say, “Show me where you found that clue.” This helps them connect the printed information to their response without turning the page into a quiz.

For a next step, use another map skills practice page to keep working on reading map information in a familiar format. You can also try more maps and geography practice when your child is ready for another short social studies page in the same skill area.
