Mazes and Problem Solving Worksheet

The printable maze worksheet gives first graders a clear path puzzle that practices mazes and problem solving. Children look ahead, choose a route, notice dead ends, and adjust plans with pencil in hand.

At age seven, many children can follow directions but still rush through visual puzzles. Kids may stall when a maze has too many turns, so a calm pencil-and-paper puzzle helps children slow down and talk through one choice at a time.

Sit beside the child and ask where the pencil could go next. Invite the child to trace a possible route with a finger before marking the page. If a dead end appears, back up to the last split and try the other path.

The page is built for shared, screen-free time, with enough challenge for a first grade brain teaser and enough white space to keep the path readable. The worksheet supports careful thinking instead of speed, which makes the maze feel like a small planning conversation rather than a generic busy page.
