Number Comparison Worksheet for Kindergarten

Kids often stall when two numbers look close, even when they can count out loud with confidence. This kindergarten math page keeps the job simple. Your child looks at two numbers and decides whether one is greater, one is smaller, or the two are equal.

This is a good fit when a 5-year-old can recognize several written numbers and is beginning to understand that numerals stand for amounts. If the comparison feels too abstract, pause and build the two numbers with fingers, blocks, buttons, or quick dots on scrap paper. Then come back to the page and let the printed numbers carry more of the work.

As you sit together, ask, “Which number tells about more?” or “Are these the same amount?” Keep the pace light. If your child guesses, have them point to each number, say both out loud, and count up from a number they know. The goal is careful comparing, not fast finishing.

When the page is done, try a quick oral round with numbers you say out loud, or invite your child to make two numbers for you to compare. If they are ready to move from comparing values into simple number stories, this addition and subtraction story worksheet gives practice with small math situations, and this second number story worksheet offers another short follow-up for shared practice.
