Identify Shape Properties: Sides and Corners

Shape names can come quickly, but sides and corners often make kids pause, guess, or call every four-sided shape a square. If your child knows the words but struggles to explain why a shape is what it is, this page gives that thinking a simple place to land.

On this printable page, your child works through four rows. Each row shows a flat shape and asks about either its sides or its corners, then your child selects the matching answer from three choices. After the identifying work, a short drawing prompt asks your child to draw a rectangle and mark its corners with dots.

Try the page with a pencil first, then keep a crayon nearby for the rectangle drawing. Before your child chooses an answer, ask, “What can you count?” Touch each side or corner together if needed, then let your child make the final selection. This keeps the work calm and concrete.
