Sight Word Scramble Picture Writing Practice
This worksheet uses a picture, a scrambled-letter hint for the word’s name, and a writing line to practice sight words and simple vocabulary spelling in first grade.
Sight words matter at this age because quick, accurate word reading helps kids spend less effort decoding and more effort understanding. When familiar words show up with letters out of order, many children freeze for a moment, then rush and make the same mistakes again.
For one round, point to the picture and have your child say the word out loud. Next, look at the scrambled letters, choose the starting sound you hear, and write the full sight word once on the writing line while finger-tracking the letters.
The worksheet is more helpful than a generic “copy words” page because the picture clue and scrambled-letter hint guide the spelling without turning practice into a full spelling lesson.
