The Where Are the Shapes? worksheet is a one-page kindergarten math printable with a six-shape board and answer fields. Children practice shape recognition by finding the rectangle, oval, triangle, circle, and hexagon through position clues such as above, right of, and left of.
At age 5, many children know shape names during play, then stall when a worksheet asks for the same shape in a new spot. Position language adds another layer, so a child has to look carefully, compare nearby shapes, and hold the clue in mind long enough to write the answer.
Sit beside the child and point to the shared shape board first. Read one clue at a time, such as “What shape is above the circle?” or “What shape is right of the hexagon?” Then let the child scan the board, say the shape name out loud, and write the answer in the field.
