Where Are the Shapes? Worksheet

The Where Are the Shapes? worksheet is a one-page kindergarten math printable for shape recognition and position words. Children use one six-shape board to answer clues about an oval, square, triangle, and hexagon.

At age 5, many children know shape names during play but stall when a question asks where one shape sits compared with another shape. Practice with words like above, below, and right of helps children slow down, look carefully, and explain a choice.

A parent or teacher can sit beside the child and read one clue at a time. Ask the child to point to the reference shape first, such as the triangle or oval, then find the shape above, below, or right of that reference shape before writing the answer in the field.

The Where Are the Shapes? worksheet uses the same six-shape board for every question, so children can focus on comparing positions instead of hunting through a busy page. The side-by-side layout keeps the model and writing space close together, which makes the page easier for young learners to follow.
