Where Are the Shapes? Shape Recognition Worksheet

Where Are the Shapes? is a one-page math worksheet for Grade 1 learners. Children use one six-shape board to practice shape recognition and position words by writing the shape that is left of, above, right of, or below another shape.

At age 7, many children can spot a circle or square quickly, but five-minute math can slow down when a question adds a direction word. Practice with left of, above, right of, and below helps children look carefully before giving an answer.

Sit beside the child and read one prompt at a time. For example, ask, "What shape is left of the oval?" Let the child point to the oval, move a finger to the left, say "hexagon," and write the answer in the field.

The same six-shape board stays in place for every question, so the page feels focused instead of crowded. The side-by-side layout, clear learning models, and writing fields make the worksheet useful for a quick parent-child practice session, a math center, or a calm review before homework.
