Where Are the Shapes? Position Worksheet

The Where Are the Shapes? worksheet is a one-page kindergarten math printable for shape recognition and position words. Children look at the same six-shape board for every question, then write the shape that is right of the triangle, below the circle, left of the circle, or left of the oval.

Six-year-olds often recognize a circle or triangle in isolation, then stall when a direction word gets added. Practice with left, right, and below helps children connect shape names to location clues, a skill that shows up in classroom directions, early geometry, and everyday talk.

Use the worksheet side by side with your child or a small group. First, point to the reference shape named in the prompt. Next, slide a finger in the direction word from the prompt. Then let the child say the answer aloud before writing the shape word in the field.

The saved page stays focused on one six-shape board, so children do not have to relearn a new picture for every question. Clear learning models, repeated visual context, and simple writing fields make the worksheet more useful than a generic shape page because the practice links what the shape is with where the shape sits.
