Circle Counting and Drawing Worksheet

The circle counting and drawing worksheet gives kindergartners one group of circles to count, then asks children to draw two new groups of circles with the requested amounts. Each drawing stays within 10 circles, so children practice one-to-one counting, number words, and matching a number to a set.

At age five, many children can recite numbers but lose track when dots, toys, or fingers need a careful count. Five-year-olds also get bored fast when every problem feels the same, so the mix of counting and drawing keeps hands busy while number sense grows.

Sit beside the child with a pencil or crayon and ask the child to touch each circle while saying one number. After the first group is counted, read the two number prompts, let the child draw the circles, and count the new groups together before moving on.

The page is small-step and concrete, not a page full of random numbers. Children see a group, make two groups, and check the count, which helps parents or teachers spot skipped numbers, double-counting, or drawings that do not match the request.
