Cultures and Traditions Worksheet

Kids this age can be proud of what their family does, then go quiet when asked to explain it. This printable gives a gentle next step. Sit together, read the page directions aloud, and use each prompt to talk about cultures and traditions in everyday language.

For kindergarten readiness, keep the pace slow and personal. A five-year-old does not need to know big social studies words to begin. They can point, tell, circle, mark, draw, or answer in words as the page asks. If the idea feels new, start with one familiar example from home, such as something your family eats, wears, says, visits, or does together.

The practice works through noticing and comparing. Children look at what is on the page, connect it to their own life, and listen as you name that different families and communities may have different traditions. If you want a nearby follow-up, try this cultures and traditions practice page to keep the same topic familiar. You can also use this second cultures and traditions printable when your child is ready for another short conversation.

Stay close while they work. Read any words they cannot read yet, ask one question at a time, and write their spoken answer if the page leaves room for writing but handwriting gets in the way. A good next step is simple: after finishing, ask, “What is one tradition we have?” Then share one of your own so the conversation feels real, not like a quiz.
