Find the Missing Numbers Worksheet

The Find the Missing Numbers worksheet gives kindergarten children four short number trails to complete. Children fill in missing numbers in sequences from zero to ten and also look at simple addition and subtraction facts with one missing number.

Counting and number sense matter at age five because children are learning that number order stays steady, even when a number is hidden. Many kids can count aloud with ease, then pause when the blank comes in the middle of 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 or near the end of 0, 1, 2, 3, 4.

A parent or teacher can sit beside the child and point to each trail from left to right. Say the numbers together, pause at each blank, and ask, “What number would make the counting sound right?” For the small equations, invite the child to use fingers or small counters before writing the missing answer.

The page stays focused on a small set of numbers, so the practice feels doable for a five-year-old. The mix of counting trails and simple addition and subtraction helps children see numbers in order and inside math facts, rather than just copying numerals from a generic page.
