Kilogram addition problems → read two measured quantities in kg → write a total that keeps the correct unit label.

Picture models → connect illustrated measurement amounts to printed numbers → solve each problem without treating pictures as life-size tools.

Finished sums → compare written totals by size → identify which answer is greater or smaller after adding kilograms.

Kilogram Addition Measurement Worksheet

Measurement can feel slippery for kids because the picture looks concrete, but the unit is still an idea. This page gives your child four addition problems in kilograms. The illustrated rulers, scales, or measuring containers show the saved quantities for each problem, and the job is to add the kg amounts and write the total.

This is a good fit when a child can count, read small numerals, and understand that kg stands for kilograms. The pictures are helpful models, not life-size measuring tools, so you can say, “We are reading the amount shown, not measuring the picture.” That small reminder keeps the focus on the math printed on the page.

Work one problem at a time. Have your child point to the first quantity, point to the second quantity, say both numbers aloud, then add them. If they rush or guess, cover the other problems with a sheet of paper and use counters, fingers, or quick dots in the margin to check the total. After the page, the kilogram subtraction measurement worksheet is a natural next step because it keeps the same unit while switching the operation.

For a little comparison talk, ask which answer is the largest or smallest after all four sums are finished. Keep it quick and friendly. If your child is ready to notice how units change, try the pint subtraction measurement worksheet later, since it uses measurement language with a different unit and gives you a chance to compare kg and pint as labels.
