Number Cards Reading Worksheet

Kids can count in order and still pause when a teen number shows up by itself. This worksheet gives you a quiet, screen-free way to sit together and read a selected set of number cards: 1, 19, 8, 6, 16, 14, 11, 10, 18, and 13.

This fits a first grader who is ready to name printed numerals, especially numbers with two digits. Because the cards are not a complete one to twenty chart, the focus stays on reading each number as it appears, not racing through a memorized count.

Start by pointing to one card at a time and giving a short pause. Let your child say the number, then read it together if they hesitate. If 16, 18, or 19 gets mixed up, say the correct number calmly, have them repeat it once, and move on so the practice stays light.

For a next step, move from reading numerals to counting visible groups with Count the Animals Worksheet, which helps connect number words to sets. When these cards feel familiar, try Choose the Next Whole Number Worksheet to add gentle practice with what number comes next.
