Numbers Two Four and Five Worksheet

Kids can know number words and still stall when a printed numeral sits by itself. On this preschool math page, you and your child read three number cards together: 5, 4, and 2. Keep it relaxed. Point to one card, say the number, and invite your child to read it with you.

This page is a good fit for a five-year-old who is beginning to connect number words with written numerals. Because it uses a selected set, it is not a full one to five chart. The goal is number recognition with a few cards, not racing through every number in order.

The mixed set matters. When 5, 4, and 2 are shown as separate cards, children have to look at the shape of each numeral instead of simply chanting a sequence. You can read the cards once, pause on a tricky one, then read them again together. Stop while it still feels like a quick shared activity.

When these three cards feel familiar, try next number practice to five to work on what comes after a number in the same small range. For a concrete follow-up, mixed animal counting practice adds groups to count, so the number word connects to a quantity your child can see.
