Pound Addition Measurement Worksheet

Kids often know how to count objects before they feel sure about measurement labels. This page keeps the job small and clear: read four addition problems in lb, use the illustrated measurement pictures as clues, add the saved quantities, and write each total.

This is a good fit for a kindergartener who can count forward, write numbers, and understands that pounds measure weight. The rulers, scales, or measuring containers on the page are picture models, not life-size measuring tools. Point that out once so the focus stays on the numbers and the unit label.

Sit nearby for the first problem and ask, “What two pound amounts are we adding?” Then have your child say the numbers aloud, count on or use fingers if needed, and write the answer with lb. If they rush past the unit, circle one lb label together and say, “This tells us what kind of amount we added.”

For a next step, you can keep the measurement theme going with milliliter addition practice, which uses the same adding idea with a capacity unit. If comparing measurements feels more helpful right now, try the kilogram comparison worksheet to practice deciding which amount is greater or less before returning to addition.
