Place Value Number Cards: Tens and Ones Practice

Teen numbers can be a headache because kids may count accurately but still see a number as separate digits instead of one ten plus extra ones. If your child rushes, guesses, or flips the digit meanings, start with one page that slows the idea down.

On this printable worksheet, children work through four number cards. For each card, they look at a number up to 19, write or mark how many tens it has, and then show how many ones are left. A final extension asks them to build another teen number from tens and ones, giving quick practice with place value language, digit position, counting, and early number sense.

Use the page with a pencil, crayons, or small counters beside the paper. Read the first number aloud, build one group of ten with fingers or counters, then count the ones together before your child fills in the card. After the first row, let your child try the next card independently while you listen for the words ten and ones.
