Find the Missing Numbers Worksheet

Five-year-olds can count out loud and still pause when a number is missing on paper. This printable gives them four short rows to complete, with number sequences that have blanks and simple addition and subtraction facts with one missing number.

This works best for a kindergartner who can count forward through 9 and is starting to notice what comes before and after a number. If that is still shaky, sit close and point to each printed number together. The goal is steady counting order, not speed.

Start with the sequence in each row. Have your child read the numbers that are already there, tap the blanks, and count forward or backward to decide what belongs. Then move to the equation in the same row. For the missing part, fingers or small counters can make the addition or subtraction easier to see.

If counting objects feels more comfortable first, the Count and Draw Circles Worksheet gives extra practice matching a number to a drawn amount. When these small numbers feel familiar, the Tens and Ones Number Cards Worksheet is a helpful next step for seeing how larger numbers are built.
