Count Halloween Candy: Numbers 1–8

This Halloween counting worksheet has six groups of candy pictures and a writing box beside each group. The quantities are 1, 3, 5, 2, 6, and 8 in page order. Children count the repeated pictures and record each total as a numeral. The seasonal pictures provide a familiar setting for number practice, while the mathematical task stays focused on how many objects each group contains.

Begin with the first group of 1 pictures. Point once to each picture and say one counting word for each point. After reaching the last picture, repeat the total before writing it in the box. Count from one side of the group to the other, keeping a steady pace so no picture is skipped or counted twice.

An adult can model one row, then let the child count the next group and explain the result. If writing a numeral is harder than counting, offer a number model after the child has identified the quantity. Movable counters on separate paper can represent the same amount. Recount a group to check an uncertain answer instead of assuming that the longest-looking row must contain the most pictures.
